Reduce Cancer Pain with Hypnosis
You may find that chemical pain management just isn't enough for your cancer pain,
or you may just want to reduce the amount of medication you need to take. Whatever
your situation, leaning to hypnotically control cancer pain has huge bonuses.
Hypnotic pain relief puts you back in control and may lessen the need for pain medications
which can cause drowsiness. But of course it is paramount that any undiagnosed pain
be checked out by a medically trained professional.
Pain is, of course an all too real physical phenomena. But ultimately the experience
of pain from any where in the body is perceived in the brain. Your experience of
pain is always entwined with your mental attititudes and perspectives as well as
the purely physical.
Pain can feel more intense when we are depressed, anxious or very fearful. When
we are deeply relaxed pain can feel much reduced and modified.
The meaning we give to pain
What pain means to us will also affect the way we experience it. For example pain
can signify healing as well as pathology. If we feel pain has a constructive meaning
then the intensity can feel different. Pain after a mindless street assault will
be experienced differently to pain after very beneficial surgery.
Hypnosis has a long history of powerfully reducing pain. We at hypnosis downloads.com
have successfully treated people for cancer pain, repetitive strain injury, pain
after accident and injury and the pain of childbirth. We know how hypnosis can help.
Your Cancer Pain Relief session will teach you the different ways to change and
lessen pain. You'll relax deeply and take a 'rest' from usual thoughts and physical
sensations.

Reduce Chemotherapy Nausea with Hypnosis
Nausea is one of the more unpleasant aspects of chemotherapy treatment. The side
effects of chemotherapy depend on the type of chemotherapy and of course the amount
given.
Just as everyone's medical profile is different so too is everyone's response to
chemo treatment. Some people get major side effects and some have very little. You
need to discuss with your care team any possible side effects if you haven't yet
started chemotherapy.
Nausea can seem like a purely physical reaction but what your mind expects to experience
has huge implications on the intensity of nausea - or even whether you experience
any nausea at all.
The first type of chemotherapy nausea
There are two different types of nausea associated with chemotherapy. Firstly there
is what is called anticipatory nausea. Some patients feel nausea in anticipation
of the next treatment. They have been so conditioned to associate certain triggers
such as the smell of a hospital or the sight of a medical uniform that these triggers
alone are enough to make them nauseas!
This is one reason we use hypnosis.
A stage show hypnotist will suggest to the subject that upon a certain trigger (such
as the hypnotist using a certain word) the subject will produce a certain response
(such as strongly smelling roses). So the subject experiences something that seems
real without even being exposed to roses. This is exactly how anticipatory nausea
works - it's actually a naturally occurring hypnotic response. That's how powerful
hypnosis is!
Part of this hypnotic experience will teach you to relax in response to triggers
that before may have automatically resulted in nausea. We aim to 'un-hook' these
associations so they no longer prompt nausea.
The second part of nausea
The second part of the nausea experience is the physical reaction that occurs within
twenty four hours of administration of the chemotherapy. This can be very mild,
moderate or sometimes severe. Medications such as haloperidol may be given in isolation
or in combination with other medications to prevent or treat nausea. However this
can still be partly to do with anticipation.
The mind has great control over the body
Anyone can get ill but it's also true to say that your mind has strong sway over
your body.
Your brain controls nausea and vomiting. Nausea is controlled by autonomic nerves,
which control involuntary bodily functions such as heart beat and breathing. Different
irritants such as smells, tastes, anxieties, pain, motion or chemicals can trigger
a vomiting centre in the brain to initiate the vomit reflex.
Hypnosis is a natural way of influencing autonomic functions in the brain. For example
hypnotized subjects can often influence healing rates, skin temperature and pain
levels. All things which are usually not under conscious control. During the
focused
hypnotic trance you can really learn to calm down responses and change instinctive
reactions. Yogis do this when they lower blood pressure at will or slow heart beat
rate.
Cope with Waiting for Cancer Test Results
Waiting for cancer test results can be terrifying. It often feel that it's the uncertainty
that's the worst thing to bear! Not knowing is what people hate as well as, of course,
a less happy result.
No one can totally predict what cancer test results will be for sure but a real
skill to develop is to relax with the uncertainty, to be calm with the waiting,
to not even imagine what the results are.
An even more important attitude to encourage within yourself is to feel that 'whatever
happens, whatever the outcome of this test/tests I will equip myself as best as
I possibly can and face the future as positively as possible!'
Amplify positive feelings with hypnosis
These aren't just thoughts they are also positive feelings. I'm sure you've already
had to tolerate uncertainties and try and feel that whatever happens some how you'll
cope. But what if these feelings and attitudes can be amplified and made much more
powerful.
When a cat watches a mouse hole it doesn't pre-empt the future. It doesn't try to
guess what will happen before the mouse emerges it just waits comfortably-ready
for anything that it might need to do in the future.
Hypnosis is the most powerful way to instill positive attitudes and to keep you
calm when you really need to keep calm.
The regular relaxation you'll receive alone from this session when you relax to
it regularly will help you both physically and psychologically.

Easier Needles & Cannulas - hypnosis can reduce discomfort and anxiety
Needles or cannulas might be an essential part of your cancer treatment, and if
you are not comfortable with them it will make your treatment much more unpleasant.
Getting tense has its uses. Sometimes.
Fear is all about being on the alert. In its place it gets us going by making heart
pump harder and getting us to breath quicker. In fact all the things we'd need to
have happen if we were running away from something that was about to harm us.
Unfortunately when we tense certain changes happen. For one we become more sensitive
to pain and secondly the immune system works less effectively.
Your experience of time
Another element to the experience of being tense is how time seems to slow right
down when you feel uncomfortable. You may have noticed this. Fifteen minutes can
seem a lot longer when you're tense. This is known as time distortion. At other
times, when you are more relaxed or enjoying something then time seems to go a lot
quicker.
Quickly developing your hypnotic abilities
As you develop your hypnotic ability you'll also notice something else. It's true
to say that we can be physically in one place but emotionally and imaginatively
we can be somewhere else. For example you can be in bed asleep having a dream and
although you are physically in bed, psychologically and imaginatively you are within
the dream place.
A person can be sitting on a train or plane but their mind could be deeply associated
with some other time and place - which would mean they would cease to notice time
passing on the train or plane. This kind of disassociation is very hypnotic.
When you become disassociated from your current location and circumstances then
to some extent you become more physically disassociated as well. This means your
brain registers less pain and discomfort when you are strongly imaginatively associated
with a relaxed time and place. Developing the capacity to do this at will gives
you a great sense of control.
This is one way this session can help you. Hypnosis is also used to lessen the actual
experience of pain so that needle experience can actually start to feel more comfortable.
Your body aligns to what your mind imagines
When you relax deeply all the systems in the body work more efficiently, from your
immune response to your respiratory system. Recalling pleasant, healthy and relaxing
times with all your senses - that is to say getting a sense of the colours, shapes,
sounds, sensations and even tastes and smells can just allow you to reassess those
times. As far as your body is concerned you are back there again. We want this download
to encourage you, not just to relax, but to relax when you really need to.
This skill will make having needles and cannulas inserted much, much easier.
Attitude is important. Your attitude to anything in life is tied to your expectation.
And your expectations have a lot to do with what you experience. This doesn't mean
that always being positive means we always experience positive things but a positive
attitude or expectation will always influence what we actually experience.
When you strongly expect to experience something a particular way then your unconscious
mind will do all it can to realise this expectation.
How many people talk of awaking from a deep sleep in the morning a minute before
their alarms clocks went off purely because their unconscious mind had an unconscious
expectation to awaken at a certain time?
A physician's expectations often translate to the experience of their patients.
All the time people are given placebos believing them to be bio-active or psycho-active
medications. The expectations of the body and the mind then turn inert sugar pills
into palliatives or even cures! A placebo isn't a fake it is a very powerful method
of harnessing the huge natural qualities of natural expectation within people.
Wise use of expectation
When you strongly hope for or, even better, expect things to improve then this expectation
will work on every level of your being. It is not to say that your expectations
should lay you open to disappointment because you can be subtle with your expectations.
This means that you can expect that your body will do it's best for you whatever
the outcome. This attitudinal approach prevents unrealistic thinking.
However bear in mind that all seemingly miraculous occurrences have seemed, at some
point and to some people, unrealistic.
Hypnosis is unparalleled at laying down powerful positive expectation at an unconscious
level.
Creating a sense of positive expectancy is best done by hypnotically imagining things
going well in future. This is like applying a powerful placebo to yourself and the
beauty is it doesn't matter that you know exactly how it's working!
What about false hope?
False hope is not the same as inner faith and powerful positive expectancy and would
only happen if a person had not been properly informed as to probable outcomes.
But please remember that all that is probable and all that is possible are two different
things and the possible is a boundary that is continually being stretched.
There are certain things we know for sure. Firstly strongly remembering wellness
can encourage the body to feel more well. This is because your body and instincts
are closely aligned to your memory and imagination. If I recall being embarrassed
my instincts and body can re-align to that time and I may even blush again.
We also know that deep rest and relaxation are great boons for physical and mental
health and well being. So, even without the benefits of the constructive use of
the imagination and unconscious positive expectancy, merely relaxing regularly will
boost your levels of comfort and immune function.
Everyone gets down sometimes but by staying generally positive you'll give yourself
the best of all possible chances and improve your experience of the current moment.
